(4) Adjust scroll speed via computer keyboard.

In the meantime, the new Tele-prompt screen layouts can be seen on the main features page

With everything set up you can now make a test recording. And initially this can be without the scrolling text, because all you need to do at this stage is check your volume and confirm everything is working correctly. So simply speak a few lines into the microphone. When recording, the red LED marked “REC” will be illuminated and the input level meter on the right will operate. Adjust your microphone level so that the signal just touches the bottom of the red area at the top of the meter.

When recording, adjust your microphone input level using the meter on the right.
The LED will display “REC” in red to indicate recording in progress

You can pause or stop your recording as required by pressing the appropriate buttons, F1 or F2 keys and, if in “Sync” mode, the scrolling text in the teleprompter screen above will do likewise! I have found this to be a great facility that makes recording to a precise time period a breeze! You’ll be able to pace your voice over on a 30 second commercial for example to perfection. And finish your script bang “on cue”!

In “Sync” mode, when pressing pause or stop, the scrolling text will do likewise!

When you have completed your test recording, you can play it back to check that you are happy with the resulting audio file. As I mentioned earlier this will be a high quality WAV file, but it will be a “dry” recording. If you want to give your work a really professional “broadcast” quality, then I recommend you enhance it with a little post production. However, that’s another story! And I’ll be adding tutorials on that soon.

Check-audio

Press the “Play” button to hear your recording and check the final audio file

Well, that completes the tutorial on setting up Tele-Prompt for the first time. The upcoming “Pro” version will have additional features, including a reversed or “mirror” text facility which will allow the text to be projected up onto angled glass in front of the camera lens. Current purchasers can upgrade at a discount!
